They are international certificates that guarantee that the energy consumed by a company comes from renewable sources. GR Power offers its clients the option to obtain certification as proof of their sustainability efforts.

Yes. All the energy comes from renewable sources, mainly solar, and is certified through international instruments such as I-REC certificates.

Minimum connected power: Customers with power greater than 5,000 kW are required to be free customers, while those between 300 kW and 5,000 kW can choose between the free or regulated market.

Notification to the distributor: Changing to the free market requires notifying the distribution company 12 months in advance, as established by regulations, in order to coordinate the transition.

Once in the free market, regulations require customers to remain there for at least 4 years before returning to the regulated market.

Free customer: According to Article 147 of the General Law of Electric Services, a free customer is a user with a connected power equal to or greater than 300 kW (mandatory if exceeding 5,000 kW).

Regulated customer: A regulated customer is a user with a connected power equal to or less than 500 kW (or, optionally, between 300 kW and 5,000 kW if they so choose), who receives electricity supply through a distribution company under non-negotiable tariffs set by the CNE, known as “node prices.”

The main differences are:

  • Energy tariff: Regulated customers pay non-negotiable tariffs set by the CNE, based on the system’s average costs. Free customers negotiate prices and conditions directly, potentially accessing lower rates.

  • Contractual flexibility: Regulated customers are bound by the distributor’s terms and regulations, whereas free customers can customize their contracts in terms of duration, type of energy, and consumption schedules.

  • Access to renewable energy: Regulated customers have no control over the energy source, which depends on the distributor’s mix. Free customers can opt for 100% renewable energy with certifications such as I-REC.

  • Supply management: Regulated customers rely exclusively on the distributor, while free customers interact with retailers or generators, benefiting from specialized support and advanced monitoring.
